Case Study

Instagram growth service $0 - $88k MRR (4x ROAs)

Jan, 2018

My own bootstrapped SaaS. Running it taught me how to think like a founder — which is how I approach every client project.

The Challenge

I was constantly redesigning the SocialFlight website — learning by doing. Early on I realized it was pointless to spend on ads without first optimizing where those visitors landed. That obsession with conversion pushed me deep into CRO: page structure, copy hierarchy, and what actually drives people to act. SocialFlight is also where I discovered I genuinely loved designing and building for the web — and the results proved the approach worked.

The Process

1

Design the Site

I built SocialFlight's first website with conversion in mind from day one — clear value prop, tight copy, and a layout designed to move visitors toward a single action.

2

Run Traffic & Test

With the site live, I drove paid traffic and set up A/B tests — putting different headlines, images, layouts, and CTAs against each other to see what actually resonated with the audience.

3

Read the Data

Every test had a lesson. I paid close attention to where visitors dropped off, what copy outperformed, and which page structures held attention — letting the data drive every next decision.

4

Redesign & Repeat

Armed with real results, I'd go back into Figma and apply what I learned — then push it live and test again. Each cycle tightened the funnel and compounded the results.

The Work

Key Details

A conversion-obsessed landing page, real ad data, and a test-and-iterate loop — built to scale.

01

Landing Page Design

SocialFlight needed to stand out in a crowded space — so the site had to look modern and polished while also being built to convert. Better design than competitors meant more trust, and more trust meant more signups.

02

A/B Testing

Nothing was assumed. Headlines, images, layouts, and CTAs were all fair game — tested against real traffic until the data made the decision. Gut instinct got replaced by what actually worked.

03

Paid Acquisition

Scaling to $88k MRR meant making paid ads work efficiently. Getting to 4x ROAs wasn't luck — it was the result of tightening the funnel over dozens of iterations until the math made sense.

The Impact

SocialFlight grew from $0 to $88k MRR within a year — bootstrapped, no outside funding. Paid ads hit 4x ROAs, with conversion rates peaking at 15% on some campaigns. None of it came from a single insight. It came from building, testing, and being willing to tear it down and start over when the data said to. That experience is what I bring to every client project — an understanding that a website isn't a creative exercise, it's a business tool. And when it's built right, it shows in the numbers.

A Word From the Client

Spoiler: it's me.

Building SocialFlight taught me more about web design and conversion than any course ever could. I'm proud of what I built — and even prouder that it actually worked.
